LedgerSMB 1.2.7 Released

LedgerSMB 1.2.7 has been released which contains a number of critical
updates affecting users of LedgerSMB 1.2.x. These include a fix for a
severe security issue. All users who are currently running LedgerSMB
1.2.x are urged to upgrade at once. A security advisory is currently
under development and will be released through these channels once it
is completed.

LedgerSMB 1.2.7 also includes a number of other bug fixes of varying
severity. The full changelog is:

LedgerSMB 1.2.6 released

The LedgerSMB team is pleased to announce that version 1.2.6 was released on June 28th

The following issues have been corrected:

  • customer_id field error in AP transactions
  • invalid HTML in ca.pl
  • Error searching for customer by address
  • Error saving orders, projects, etc. with custom fields.
  • Error saving project with NULL customer id.
  • .po header information showing up on balance sheet.

Additionally, the following preventative measures were included:

LedgerSMB 1.2.5 released

The LedgerSMB team is pleased to announce the release of LedgerSMB 1.2.5 which is available from the SourceForge download page.

This release includes major bugfixes for users of 1.000,00 and 1000,00
number formats. Users with these number formats are urged to upgrade
as soon as possible.

The release also includes a number of UTF-related fixes. Users who
require umlauts, multibyte charaters, and accents should also upgrade.

How do I account for Depreciation in LedgerSMB?

NOTE: LedgerSMB has a Fixed assets module as of 1.3. The FAQ below is out-dated.

LedgerSMB does not have a built-in assett tracking / depreciation feature. Depreciation can be managed manually using General Ledger Transactions. You should probably confirm this with your accountant, but the basic procedure (kindly suggested by Tony Fraser) is, assuming a computer asset over 5 years:

Quite a few users find some of the terminology and accounting processes a little confusing at first. Some of the more popular small business accounting packages tend to hide these aspects of book-keeping from users for simplicity, so with the current user interface there is often some new ideas to grasp.

First step is the manual - the LedgerSMB manual is free and highly recommended reading.

LedgerSMB 1.2.2 released

What has been fixed (since 1.2.0):
1) Backups created from the user interface were sending out blank backups.
2) Sales tax was selecting the wrong acounts for invoices and printing.
3) Data entry screens were showing incorrect amounts for sales tax.
4) Logos were not printing.
5) Data update script was not using correct password.
6) Account deletion was giving a database error
7) Some 1.2.1 users were unable to log in after upgrading

All the above items have been corrected
